Rumors of imminent floatations are commonplace in the online casinos industry. This week, speculation was rife amongst Australian media on whether or not Sydney-based online casinos and bookmakers Centrebet will list publicly in the United Kingdom. The online casinos firm’s management team has remained tightlipped in response to enquiries, but has announced that a final decision can be expected before the end of the year. Analysts have commented that a British listing would be wise, as betting on football by European fans makes up for half the firm’s business. Little is known about Centrebet's financial status but it is expected to be valued at approximately $100 million U.S. dollars.
Similarly, rumors surrounding UK online casinos group Gala Coral are rife, following a statement its chief executive officer made to the Financial Times last weekend. The online casinos firm could be planning an IPO of 5.5 billion pounds sterling within the next 18 months, if hints from Gala Coral’s boss can be believed. Neil Goulden was quoted as saying that a float by the online casinos company was 'inevitable.'
Goulden went on to say that the online casinos firm was committed to deliver profit growth over the next 18 months, so that by autumn 2007 the business would "...attract a value of 5.5 billion pounds.” Analysts presume the online casinos firm will list in London and will be watching developments closely.
